Mead Road was inspected by Ofsted in March 2009.

It was judged to be an outstanding school!

Mead Road Infant School is an outstanding school of which parents and pupils are extremely proud.

Its outstanding provision results in both the pupils' academic achievement and their personal development being excellent.

Parents are overwhelmingly positive about the school, and typical of their views are comments such as 'It is really a second home, and all the teachers and helpers there are a second family to our children', and 'It is a fantastic school - I just wish that the children could stay there for longer'.

Parents are most appreciative of the excellent provision, as exemplified by the comment, 'This has been the perfect start for our child into the education system.'

Letter to pupils explaining the findings of the inspection.

Dear Pupils

I would like to thank you for making us feel very welcome when we visited your school recently. We enjoyed talking to you and seeing all the interesting work that you do. You have a lovely school, in a beautiful setting. We agree with your teachers that your school is an outstanding one.

Here are some of the things we liked best about your school.

Ø      You really enjoy coming to school.

Ø       You work very enthusiastically in lessons and find them exciting.

Ø      You are very polite and considerate and look after each other well.

Ø      You know how to be healthy by exercising and by eating the right food.

Ø      You enjoy the opportunities that the school offers, such as interesting visits and clubs.

Ø      Your teachers guide you very well to help you to improve your work.

Ø      Adults in school make sure you are safe and very well cared for.

Ø      Your headteacher and deputy headteacher are excellent leaders and are always trying to make the school even better.

There is one thing that we have asked the school to do to improve:

Ø      to provide more opportunities for you to learn about the cultures of the different groups of people that live in Britain today.

You can help by being curious to learn about other people who live in our country.

I would like to wish you all the very best for the future.

Yours faithfully

Alison Thomson, Lead Inspector

Mead Road  was inspected by Ofsted in November 2005.

It was judged to be an outstanding school!

The 2005 report highlights the many strengths of the school, including:

Progress is very good and standards are high.

Learning is fun. Lessons zing along at a very good pace and pupils' attention is held throughout.

The curriculum is exciting, covers all subjects very well and is enhanced by an outstanding range of additional activities.

Pupils are cared for exceptionally well and all of them, including the most vulnerable, are safe and secure.

Pupils are respectful of each other, follow the school's clear moral code, and relate very well to each other and adults.

Pupils' contribution to the community is outstanding.

The partnership with parents is exemplary.

The head teacher provides first-rate leadership. She is very ably supported by her deputy and all staff and developments are driven forward at a very good pace.

As one parent wrote - 'This is the school you dream about your child starting at.'
